INSTRUMENTS
Kotzschmar Memorial Organ
Merrill Auditorium, Portland City Hall
Portland, Maine

The four manual 1912 Austin organ was a gift to the City of Portland by Philadelphia publisher Cyrus Curtis in memory of Portland Musician Hermann Kotzschmar. The organ was the first municipal organ in the United States and is one of only two still in use today. At the time of its installation in 1912, it was the second largest non-church organ in the world and remains the largest pipe organ in the State of Maine. The year-long concert series features recitals by some of the top ranked organists in the world.
