INSTRUMENTS
Maine State Museum, Augusta, Maine
Simmons and Fisher 1857

The remains of this 1 manual 5 rank organ were donated to the museum in 1992 by St. Denis parish in North Whitefield, Maine. The organ was in very poor condition at the time it was turned over to the museum. Much of the pipework was either smashed flat, broken or missing. The draw knobs had been replaced with birch dowels and maple drawer pulls. The manual keys had been recovered with pebble finish Formica. Wallace & Co. restored the instrument to playing condition using Simmons pipes materials where possible. All the existing pipes were restored.
